Book Your Newborn Session Before Baby Arrives
If you’re hoping for those fresh, sleepy newborn images, I always recommend scheduling your session when you're about 26-28 weeks pregnant.
You will not want to be searching for a photographer or coordinating schedules once baby is here.
When you book with me, I reserve your due date on my calendar. Once baby arrives, you simply reach out, and we’ll finalize your session day. If you have a scheduled c-section, we can plan ahead even more intentionally.

What to Wear for Your Newborn Session
This part matters more than you think—not for perfection, but for how you feel.
Mamas, start with your outfit first.
Everything else can coordinate around you.
Think:
Flowy dresses
Soft knits
Neutral tones (creams, taupes, soft pastels, earthy colors)
Choose something that makes you feel like yourself, but elevated. Something that gives you a little confidence in a season where your body is still healing.
For dads:
Keep it simple—neutral tees, henleys, or sweaters with jeans or trousers.
For baby:
Less is more.
A simple onesie, swaddle, or knit outfit is perfect. No stiff or overly styled outfits—just soft, natural, and cozy.
And don’t worry—I help guide all of this so you’re not figuring it out alone.
Choose the Spaces You Love Most in Your Home
Before your session, take a little mental note of your favorite areas in your home.
This could be:
Your bedroom
The nursery
Living room
Even a cozy corner with beautiful light
You don’t need your whole house ready—just 2–3 meaningful spaces.
Consider Baby’s (and Your) Rhythm
There’s no such thing as a perfect newborn schedule—and I don’t expect one.
But if possible, feeding your baby right before I arrive can help them feel sleepy and settled as we begin.
A few helpful tips:
Get yourself and baby dressed before feeding
Have a bottle or be ready to feed during the session
Expect breaks—for feeding, changing, or soothing
I always build extra time into newborn sessions so nothing feels rushed or stressful.
Real life is welcome here.
Keep Things Meaningful, Not Complicated
I don’t bring a lot of props—and that’s intentional.
Your story is already enough.
We’ll use:
Your baby’s swaddles
A favorite blanket
A cozy chair or bed
Maybe a simple Moses basket if requested
These little, personal details are what make your photos feel like you.
If You Can—Treat Yourself a Little
This season can feel like a blur, and sometimes you don’t feel like yourself.
If it’s within reach, I highly recommend getting your hair and makeup done—whether that’s a simple blowout or having someone come to you.
It’s not about looking “perfect.”
It’s about feeling a little more like you again.
And that energy shows up in your photos in the most beautiful way.
The Heart Behind It All
At the end of the day, this isn’t about having a perfectly styled home or a perfectly sleeping baby.
It’s about remembering.
The way they fit into your arms.
The way your home felt in this season.
The quiet, in-between moments you didn’t even realize were important.
These are the images that become your family’s heirlooms.
